Colorado 2008 Legislative Session included approval of the Governor's Building Blocks for Health Care Reform and a number of bills that expanded access and improved health care for children, strengthened Medicaid and Child Health Plus (CHP+), and improved quality and efficiency in health care.

Building Blocks For Health Care Reform

Medical Home for Children
Gov. Ritter's plan provides all children in Medicaid and CHP+ a Medical Home to ensure access to primary and preventive care.  In FY08-09, this will expand Medical Home coverage to 170,000 more kids.

SB08 - 160 Child Health Plus Expansion [6/3/2008]
Expands Eligibility for Child Health Plus from 205 percent to 225 percent of the federal poverty level ($48,000 per year for a family of four) for both children (beginning Mar 09) and pregnant women (beginning Oct 09); and increases the mental health benefit to match that of Medicaid.

Bill SB08 - 160

SB08 - 161 Expands public outreach and eliminates administrative barriers that prevent families from getting eligible children enrolled in CHP+ and Medicaid.

HB08 - 1410 Coverage for Colorectal Cancer Prevention Services [6/03/2008]
Provides for a mandatory requirement that health insurance plans include non-deductible and limited cost sharing coverage for colorectal cancer prevention services. Certain small group basic health plans are exempted.
