Today, NPAF released health care reform recommendations intended to provide policymakers with patient-centered solutions to improve our health care system.  NPAF built upon its Pillars of Health Care Reform which were released in August 2008 to develop policy recommedations.

House Passes SCHIP Reauthorization

On January 14th, the U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation reauthorizing and expanding the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP).  SCHIP provides health coverage for low-income children whose family incomes are too high for them to qualify for Medicaid.

Senator Baucus Introduces Health Reform Plan

On November 12th, 2008, Senator Max Baucus (D-MT) released a detailed whitepaper intended as "a starting point" for health care reform in 2009.

AHIC Convenes Final Meeting

The American Health Information Community (AHIC) convened their final meeting on November 12th, 2008.  The work of AHIC 1.0 will be transitioned to the successor AHIC 2.0.  Since the initial meeting of AHIC 1.0, NPAF has provided information on the work of this Health Information Community.

National Patient Advocate Foundation is pleased to provide the Final Summary Documents addressing the History, Vision, Broad Charge, Key Issues, Recommendations/accomplishments, HIT Heirarchy of Adoption, Future Work, Final AHIC 1.0 Recommendations presented at this final meeting.
