NPAF Joins Alliance for a Stronger FDA |
|
In an effort to protect patients and assure access to safe medical therapies, NPAF has joined the Alliance for a Stronger FDA; a national campaign to educate the public, media and policymakers on the need to increase the FDA's appropriations in order to ensure adequate funding for new public health initiatives. Over the past year, the Alliance for a Stronger FDA has joined together public health advocates to collectively educate the population on what the FDA's own Science Advisory Board has deemed "insufficient resources." According to the Alliance, FDA funding has not increased proportionately to the costs required to carry out much of their primary job functions. At the heart of this multi-year effort is a network of current information regarding the FDA's efforts and financial needs. Building this awareness will help to assure the FDA can continue to provide protection to patients and will also aide in the maintenance of the public's trust which has led to their stellar reputation. |
