September 23rd, 2010, marks the six month anniversary of the "Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act" (ACA) becoming law. Several very significant benefits go into effect on September 23rd including:

• Pre-existing condition exclusions for children under 19 are prohibited;
• Insurers will be prohibited from rescinding health coverage;
• Lifetime limits on insurance coverage are eliminated;
• Annual limits on insurance coverage will be regulated;
• Insurers will be required to provide first dollar coverage for preventive services;
• Dependent coverage will be extended to young adults under age 26 years; and
• Insurers must implement an effective appeals process for coverage determinations and claims.
