Richard D. Carter, Esq. formed Richard D. Carter, PLLC in 2008. He concentrates on health care related litigation having handled over 500 matters involving insurance coverage for state of the art therapies. He was lead counsel on the first successful trial to obtain coverage for bone marrow transplants for breast cancer patients. Mr. Carter was also lead counsel on the Blue Cross national test case on experimental treatments.

A frequent lecturer on health care matters for national legal and medical conferences, his work also has been profiled in Newsweek, The Wall Street Journal and the NBC Sunday Today and Today shows. He is an adjunct Professor of Law at Georgetown University Law Center.
