Every year, NPAF offers volunteers the opportunity to come to Washington, DC for a special conference that includes education, interaction, workshops and the chance to spend time on Capitol Hill discussing key issues with their legislators. This year 35 NPAF volunteers from all over the country came together to learn more about NPAF programs and priorities and participate in workshops on holding end of life discussions and improving your storytelling ability. The group also got updates on the current status of health care legislation before taking to the Hill.
Patient Congress Focuses on Palliative Care
Every year, Patient Congress focuses on one key component of our legislative agenda. This year, we took to the Hill to advocate for PCHETA, the Palliative Care and Hospice Education and Training Act. PCHETA will provide much needed funding to improve palliative care in health care facilities across the country. The bill is currently seeking additional sponsors and awaiting a committee hearing.
