Mike Olex was trained as a hockey player and radiological physicist. After being diagnosed with an aggressive course of progressive multiple sclerosis, he had to retire from that type of work and now dedicates himself to his family and advocacy. Mike is involved in a number of advocacy efforts in the multiple sclerosis and disability communities. He works extensively with National Patient Advocate Foundation and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society to advance policies which help better lives in the Commonwealth of Virginia and beyond. The key issues he’s focused on include Medicaid expansion, CBD legalization, and step therapy reform. Mike was recently featured in the upcoming National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM) Workshop: Integrating Serious Illness Care into Primary Care Delivery. He resides near Richmond, VA.
